How About A Real Dunk Contest?

Fuck ESPN first off. Lets get some real rules. Tandem Dunk gone shits stupid. Signature dunk you get 4 attempts to do anything. Freestyle 2 mintues first 4 dunks you throw down are what your score is based on. Vert bar keep it its still cool. But what needs to be banned are these judges that are stupid as shit. Let us the youtube viewers judge, the ones that bought the flying101 dvd, the ones that are waiting for the TFB DVD. I don't mind Charles scouting because we've seen the Highlight reels he got some great dunkers. Hold it anywhere and do it like that. But lets do it soon sometime in Ocotober, November enough time for KD to get healthy and win lol. If you agree please respond and put your input into how you would like the format because I know mine is not perfect but it sure as shit is better than what we saw at City Slam and make up an event to replace tandem.

Freestyle: I'm cool with it and it's a nice way to get warmed up and put on a show
Tandem: Hate it. The combination of bad passes and a time limit will screw you.
Vert Bar: It's cool but really punishes certain dunkers especially the short ones
Signature: How about 3 attempts instead of 30 seconds.

As for the format of the show. We need better skits, features, editing and camera guys (too many close-ups and bad angles on dunks). Need more replays too. Better commentators or atleast not as nice and positive. Chuck and Kenny make the NBA dunk contests twice as entertaining.

I personally wanted to incorporate everything from live streaming to online and txt voting. It would make the show more exciting, interactive and unpredictable. More player interaction too - how about each player blogs or twitters the day(s) before the event and ESPN documents the dunks and players before. The best dunks happened the day before the dunk contest.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS MAKING SURE NOBODY GETS INJURED BEFORE THE CONTEST. IT SHOULD A FIELD OF 16. 8 DUNKERS PER SHOW AND THE FINAL 4 ON THE LAST EPISODE. THE FIELD SHOULD BE... WERM, TDUB, HIGH RIZER, TROY M, GOLDEN CHILD, ELEVATOR, AIR UP THERE, SPRINGS, JAMES WHITE, EXILE, KENNY DOBBS, GUY DUPUY, RUTGER NIECE, JUS FLY, SPECIAL FX AND CLARK KENT. MAYBE JOHN THE HELICOPTER HUMPHREY AND MIKE VILLA AS POSIBLE REPLACEMENTS

Thank you I thought about the online streaming idea as well but I know its difficult and if the txt votes are the only votes I wouldn't have a problem with that either and outdoors would be great like the Gus Macker contest. Once again thanks for your response. There are so many great dunkers that if were gonna crown the best in the world lets do it right. City Slam did not crown the best in the world. In my opinion Werm or Golden Child should've won.

Im going to sound boring, but why not have the classic dunk contest, not Dr J ABA classic, but kind of more like the NBA one, with guys getting 2 minutes for a dunk per round and get scored on that dunk, if anyones watched the NBA contest through i think 1993-1997 with maybe one exception they tried the 90 sec dunk routine and it stunk!
You dont have enough time, Everyone misses so give them a chance to miss and then throw it down again!
Also scoring on a bases of a number of dunks is lame, you could do a 360 under both legs, then 2 simple dunks, would you get a huge score, maybe maybe not, but instead if you did the 360 UBL then youd get a 50 and 2 low scores. Also this leaves more room for those with numerous creative "signature" dunks. I know that everyone in the contest minus maybe high rizer would have liked this and it would have actually been a more epic contest. On youtube at the mo TFB have posted a vid of there London Maddness and it is an INSANE contest!!!

PLEASE revise the rules and make it more entertaining! give the dunkers a chance to actually show what they got! 4 dunks in 30 seconds is rediculious, im not as good as these guys and I tried it, I missed 2 and got 2 (simple dunks btw) and 31 seconds had passed, I couldnt do it!

Also for tandem you could do the NBA one, have one dunk per round or in the 1st round where you must involve someone else!

The vert bar is awesome, but I dont think it suits every dunker! Dunkmans vert idea was really cleaver, increasing the rim dependent on height and vert made it more entertaining and seeing a guy try dunk on 12 foot was simply sweet!

So old school contest, maybe 3 rounds 3 dunks, like MJ and dom, or 2 rounds 3 dunks (One more then the old 2000 one with Vince!) and oh yeah, better commentators, someone who maybe knows a bit more about dunks, gets amazed at the insane shit and even the not so insane! I believe this contest could have been leaps and bounds better! Oh and judges that judge on creativity not mainly power!

I think that the format is good, they just need to take the time limit off of the tandem and signature. Just for the tandem and signature give 3 attempts. That would make it much better i think! The time limit thing took away from the contest. I think that had a negative impact and hurt alot of dunkers because your legs need time to recover so...It can only get better! Peace!
